LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Former big leaguer and UK player native JT Riddle has retired.
The Frankfort native finished his pro baseball career as a Lexington Legends, playing for a final time on Thursday at Legends Field in a 9-3 loss to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
Riddle singled and scored a run in his final appearance.
The Western Hills High School graduate played at UK before being drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 2013 MLB Draft. The infielder made his Major League debut in 2017 and appeared in 252 games in the majors. He spent six seasons with the Marlins, Pirates, Twins and Reds. In 745 at-bats, Riddle collected 166 hits, 80 RBI and 19 home runs.
Riddle was a player-coach for the Legends the past two seasons. He’s currently the head baseball coach at Franklin Co. High School.
