*Not long ago, when the Red Sox seemed like guaranteed playoff participants, the thinking was their starting rotation would make them a very tough out in October.
Start with ace Garrett Crochet, and add Lucas Giolito and Brayan Bello, and well, there weren’t a lot of teams that could match that kind of starting pitching, especially in a short series.
