The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants, 7-5, on Saturday night and improved to 88-67 on the year. The magic number to win the division is now at three.

In other news, All-Star catcher Will Smith has an unfortunate update regarding his status for the start of the postseason. A hairline fracture has been found in his hand as his chances of returning before October are slim.

Additionally, relief pitcher Brusdar Graterol is likely out for the year. Although he has yet to log any innings this season amid a recovery from shoulder surgery, his latest health update from president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman wasn’t ideal.

Finally, an All-Star shortstop heading towards free agency this offseason has been linked to the Dodgers. The 27-year-old currently leads the majors in hits (181) and doubles (44).
