“After 13 seasons and full of tremendous pride and gratitude, it’s time to hang up the cleats,” Stripling wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). “I never could have imagined the experiences and memories I’d be a part of. They exceeded every hope that my younger self could have dreamt for my baseball career.

“It never could have been possible without my family and friends. I also want to give a huge thank you to all my coaches and teammates over the years. I had so much love and support along the way, and I’m thankful to everyone that was a part of it in any form or fashion. All of you helped me be the best player I could be.”

Stripling, 35, spent the first part of his career with the Dodgers. He was drafted by L.A. in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB draft. In 2016, the right-hander earned the final spot in the Dodgers rotation.

Stripling made his big league debut against NL West rivals, the San Francisco Giants, where he tossed 7.1 no-hit innings.

During the 2017 World Series, Stripling pitched in three games as a member of the bullpen, giving up no runs over two innings.

In 2020, the right-hander and Joc Pederson were nearly traded to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for Luis Rengifo. However, the trade did not go through and he made seven starts for the Dodgers during the pandemic shortened-season.

In August 2020, Stripling was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. Throughout his five seasons in L.A., Stripling sported a 3.68 ERA across 420.2 innings.

The-right hander has a career 4.17 ERA with a 40-54 record. He concludes his baseball career with a 6.8 WAR, 741 strikeouts, and 1.245 WHIP. The right-hander earned his first and only All-Star selection during his Dodgers tenure in 2018.

Stripling also spent time with the Blue Jays, Giants, and Oakland Athletics throughout his career.

“This has been an unbelievable honor, and I feel incredibly lucky to be so fulfilled and content with leaving the game behind,” Stripling added. “Now, I’m excited to be home and begin the next chapter of life with my amazing family.”
