It’s Sunday once again, and you know what that means — it’s time for our weekly social media roundup! The Yankees may have been on the road this week, but that doesn’t mean it was a slow week in the Bronx. Indeed, this week has been, well, bananas. With so much to cover, let’s get started!

Last weekend, the Savannah Bananas visited Yankee Stadium as they took their barnstorming show to the greatest city in the world. As we noted last week, former Yankees skipper Joe Torre was the special guest, donning the Bananas jersey to coach first base. Since then, we’ve gotten some more social media coverage of the weekend’s festivities.

For starters, former Yankees World Series champion Nick Swisher, who has been a regular guest for the Bananas, returned to the right field he called home for four seasons.

Meanwhile, former Giants quarterback Eli Manning went undercover as an umpire for the game, as he continues checking off life’s side quests in retirement.

Rather than focusing on the celebrity cameos, the YES Network focused on the Bananas players, asking them questions much like they would Yankees players in order to create content.

During last night’s game in Baltimore, Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton hit the 450th home run of his career. Despite being on the road, as fate would have it, the ball was caught by a young Yankees fan wearing a Giancarlo Stanton shirsey. Instead of holding the ball ransom, the kid asked for nothing in return — so, naturally, the kid got the memory of a lifetime.

After a busy summer that included numerous rounds of Hall of Fame festivities and last week’s LegaCCy Gala, Yankees legend CC Sabathia and his wife Amber spent this week vacationing in Amalfi, Italy.

After officially announcing his retirement from Major League Baseball last week, former Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo filmed an ad with Sport Coffee. And while I generally try to avoid sponsored posts — this series is meant to help us look behind the curtain at the players, not help them with their corporate advertising — there occasionally comes an ad worth a share. This one, in which Rizzo fails a basic internship as he misinterprets such basic things as the purpose of definitely-not-Krispy-Kreme donuts, is one of those ads.

Dave Sims and Suzyn Waldman have both accepted visitors and visited radio booths throughout the road trip.
