The Los Angeles Dodgers lost catcher Chuckie Robinson after he was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.
The backstop played just one game with the Dodgers at the major league level, but logged 51 appearances in Triple-A Oklahoma City. During this time, he batted .254/.337/.348 with an OPS of .685.

#Braves claimed C Chuckie Robinson off waivers from the Dodgers and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room on the 40-man roster, they transferred RHP Daysbel Hernández to the 60-day IL.

Robinson was essentially the backup catcher in Triple-A, but after All-Star Will Smith went down and rookie Dalton Rushing landed on the IL shortly after, the spotlight went straight to both Robinson and Ben Rortvedt in Triple-A.
Rortvedt quickly proved himself as being worthy of taking over at a time when depth had never been worse for the Dodgers, both in his framing and game-calling abilities, plus his consistent bat. In 14 appearances this month, Rortvedt is hitting .270 with three RBIs.

When Smith officially went on the injured list, Robinson was recalled. Although his role won’t show it through his stats, his presence provided relief for a championship contender suddenly working without a consistent backstop situation. The emergence of Rortvedt is something that nobody could have planned for, but Robinson will hope to get more opportunities in Atlanta.
Robinson was traded from the Chicago White Sox to the Los Angeles Angels this past December but had yet to log a big league appearance for the Halos. He was solid in Triple-A, batting .272 in his 27 appearances, but was designated for assignment towards the end of May.
The Dodgers scooped him up off waivers, but would DFA him a few days later. He was then sent outright to Triple-A and has been there for most of his short tenure with the organization.
Robinson will now look to add to his 52 career games in MLB since 2022 as a member of the Braves.
