MINNEAPOLIS — The Guardians’ mad dash toward a potential playoff spot continued Saturday afternoon at Target Field. They made history along the way.

Cleveland hit a season-high five home runs in beating Joe Ryan and the Twins, 6-0, in the first game of a day-night doubleheader. The Guardians’ ninth straight win, combined with Detroit’s 6-5 loss to Atlanta on Saturday, pulled Cleveland to within 1 1/2 games of the first-place Tigers in the AL Central.
