In a curious social media post by the website TradesMLB, Schneider was ranked 20th out of 30 MLB managers.

For a manager whose team is the leading the American League and just clinched a playoff stop, it seems downright disrespectful to have Schneider ranked so low.

The page ranks Pat Murphy, manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, as number one. No surprise there. The Dodgers‘ Dave Roberts and the Tigers‘ AJ Hinch are two and three. Again, no real issue. Craig Counsell and Bruce Bochy round out the top five.

Schneider, in his third full season as manager of the Blue Jays, finds himself all the way down at number 20, in between the Marlins’ Clayton McCullough and the Mariners’ Dan Wilson, who, given Seattle’s recent run, should also be ranked higher.

There will always be people who discredit Blue Jays manager John Schneider

Schneider, like any manager, has his detractors, even with the Blue Jays fanbase. But for a team that wasn’t expected to do much, Schneider deserves a ton of credit for turning Toronto into a team that could win it all.

It’s time the baseball world starts respecting that.
