Red Bank and Bradley Central will be playing with their seasons on the line on Friday. The Lions fell 4-3 to Upperman in nine innings, while the Bears dropped 1-0 to Siegel in Game 1 of their respective sub-state matchups.
The Bees took a lead over Red Bank in the fifth inning. However, the Lions were able to tie things up at 3 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Upperman went back in front in the ninth inning, ultimately winning it 4-3.
Meanwhile, it was a pitching duel at Joe Adams Field, with Ryan Russell dealing for Siegel and Tyler Cook for Bradley Central.
The Stars took a 1-0 lead on a call that was overturned from out to safe in the sixth. The Bears had runners at the corners with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but what looked to be a sac fly from Tyler Cook was ruled an out at the plate.
That’s how the ballgame ends–with Bradley Central falling 1-0 to Siegel.
“Their starter did a great job on the mound. Tyler Cook held them in check,” Head Coach Travis Adams said.
“I hate for it to end that way, kind of outside our control, but as hard as it is, you just have to flush it and move on. Push for tomorrow and hope everyone can reset, cause that is a tough way to end the game.”
