ABC News | Ronald Blum: Juan Soto made his return to Yankee Stadium in a Mets uniform for the first time, and there was an expectation that the boos would rain down on him. Honestly, it was a little tame in reality — the crowd rose to boo him in his first at-bat, but Soto took it in stride and tipped his helmet to the fans. The fans in right field did turn their backs on him as he jogged out to take the field for the first inning, which was an interesting twist, but overall there wasn’t a particularly malicious vibe from the stands and the players themselves were more than cordial in greeting Soto around home plate during batting practice. Soto, to his credit, walked three times but flew out to end the game with runners on second and third.

USA Today | Jesse Yomtov: Oswaldo Cabrera has officially undergone surgery to repair his broken ankle after suffering a season-ending injury in Seattle on Monday, and he felt the love from all corners as he begins his recovery. Cabrera shared on social media that when he woke up the next day his phone was filled with messages from family, friends, fans, and his teammates wishing him a swift recovery. He was even visited by the captain Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe the night of, right after the game to make sure their teammate was in good spirits. We wish you well on your rehab as well Oswaldo, and hopefully he comes back as good as new.

The Athletic | Tyler Kepner ($): Paul Goldschmidt isn’t getting confused for a speedster anytime soon, especially not at 37 years old with a first baseman’s frame. The seven-time All-Star swiped a surprise bag in the ninth inning on Tuesday that led to the team scoring the tying run thanks to a pinch-runner, putting him at 172 career stolen bases. He’s nearly caught Joe Kuhel’s mark of 178 steals, and there’s a narrow window where he could challenge Jeff Bagwell and his 202 swiped bags for the most steals by a first baseman in the last 100 years. Will Goldschmidt reach it? He’s not actively gunning for it by any means, but he’ll take his chances when the moment is right and see how close he gets.

MLB Trade Rumors | Darragh McDonald: Finally, in some roster news the Yankees made a minor trade, sending reliever Rob Zastryzny to Milwaukee for cash considerations. Zastryzny signed a minor-league deal with New York this offseason after pitching for the Brewers last year, and worked 12 innings for Triple-A Scranton this year.
