Walker Buehler’s career has taken a dramatic turn in just a matter of weeks. After struggling with the Boston Red Sox earlier this season, the veteran right-hander has found new life with the Philadelphia Phillies. And now, there is a chance his postseason run could bring him face-to-face with his old team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The former Dodgers pitcher signed a one-year, $21.05 million deal with the Red Sox for 2025, with a mutual option for 2026. But the move went horribly wrong. In 23 games, including 22 starts, he posted a 7-7 record with a 5.45 ERA, forcing Boston to terminate his contract in late August. That’s when Philadelphia stepped in, and so far, the gamble has paid off.

During a recent interaction with the media, Walker Buehler was asked about the possibility of facing his former Dodgers teammates in the postseason. The 31-year-old gave a cheeky response, “You guys know I like pitching in October, so we will see what happens.”

LA Fans haven’t forgotten how dominant Buehler was for the team. In the postseason with the Dodgers, he owns a 3.04 ERA, including an incredible 0.47 ERA in World Series appearances last year.

Since joining the Phillies, Buehler has looked like his old self again. He has gone 8.2 innings with seven hits, one earned run, three walks, and six strikeouts, with a 1.04 ERA. The positive stats indicate that he could be an X-factor in October, which he has always been.

“I really like our team here, the group we have, the talent, and hopefully I can help them cross the finish line,” Buehler added.

The Phillies have already locked up the NL East, giving them a chance to set their rotation for the playoffs. If Buehler continues pitching like this, he could line up for a big role, maybe even in a series against his former team.
