The Seattle Mariners have set their lineup for the first of at least three big games they will play during their six-game homestand at T-Mobile Park this week.

Seattle’s lineup for Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. series opener against the MLB-worst Colorado Rockies is pretty much what has been standard for manager Dan Wilson since the July 31 MLB trade deadline. Left fielder Randy Arozarena leads off, major league home run leader Cal Raleigh is second and three-time All-Star center fielder Julio RodrÃguez hits third.
With right-hander McCade Brown starting for the Rockies, lefty-hitting first baseman Josh Naylor is in the cleanup spot, followed by the switch-hitting Jorge Polanco as the second baseman and slugging third baseman Eugenio Suárez. Dominic Canzone gets the start as the designated hitter, and the lineup is rounded out by right fielder Victor Robles and shortstop J.P. Crawford, two of the heroes of the Mariners’ huge three-game sweep of the AL West rival Astros in Houston over the weekend.

The Mariners will start right-hander Bryce Miller on the mound Tuesday against Colorado. Seattle’s starting pitchers for the rest of the homestand, which will conclude with three games between Friday and Sunday against the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, have not yet been announced.
Seattle (87-69) is returning to the field after its last scheduled day off of the regular season on Monday with a three-game lead on the Astros in the AL West, and a two-game lead for the American League’s No. 2 seed to the playoffs. The first two seeds receive a bye past the wild card round straight to an AL Division Series.
The Mariners could clinch their first playoff berth since 2022 on Tuesday night so long as it wins and the New York Yankees beat the AL-worst Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Click here for an article explaining the scenario.
The Mariners could also lock up their first AL West crown since 2001 as soon as Wednesday, with their magic number sitting at three entering Tuesday.
It’s also possible the M’s could clinch the No. 2 seed as soon as Thursday. A sweep of the Rockies would make each of those scenarios easy to achieve.
Radio coverage on Seattle Sports of Tuesday’s Mariners-Rockies games begins at 5:30 p.m. with the pregame show.
