Netflix reportedly has signed a three-year distribution deal with Major League Baseball for select games and events, including the March 25, 2026, season opener between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants, and the Home Run Derby during All-Star Week July 10 – 14, 2026, at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

The rest of the MLB teams open their 2026 campaigns on March 26.

While neither MLB or Netflix has commented on the matter, according to The Athletic, which first reported the story, citing sources, the agreement is seen as the streamer’s first MLB game and the first-time the league has opened the season with a standalone game since 2015.

That’s music to Netflix’s ears. The streamer, heretofore, has shied away from pursuing full seasons of professional sports, opting instead for one-off competitions such as boxing, Christmas Day NFL games, the Women’s World Cup and the MLB season opener.

NBCUniversal and Peacock are reportedly also eyeing three-year deals for one-off MLB events, including the Wild Card playoffs, after ESPN opted out of its exclusive distribution deal at the end of the 2025 season.
