Ozzie Albies’ hand injury prompts decision for Atlanta during offseason

  • September 26, 2025

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Ozzie Albies’ season ended Monday after he fractured his left hamate bone, prompting a decision to be made on whether the Atlanta Braves should bring back the second baseman next season.

The expectation is that he’d be OK by spring training. That’s if the team exercises his $7 million option ($4M buyout) for 2026.

It’s a disappointing conclusion to the season for Albies, who missed much of the final two months of the 2024 campaign with a wrist injury. The effects of that injury lingered into the start of the 2025 season, when he donned a .606 OPS before the All-Star break.
