The Mount Union softball and baseball teams have their backs against the wall in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
After losing to Salisbury 5-3 in nine innings, the Purple Raiders saw their elimination game against Pfeiffer suspended in the eighth because of weather and darkness. The game is tied at 1-1.
Mount Union and Pfeiffer will resume their game on Saturday, May 17 at a time to be determined.
With a double in the bottom of the first against Pfeiffer, senior Adri George broke the school record for career doubles, recording the 46th of her career. The record set by current head coach Meghan Simons had stood since 2010.
Catholic rallied for a run in the eighth inning and five more in the ninth to beat Mount Union 11-10 in the first round the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. The Purple Raiders will face Grove City in an elimination game at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 on their home field.
Chris Tsouras hit a three-run homer for the Purple Raiders, who fell just short after rallying for four runs in the ninth.
Mount Union’s Jocelyn Troyer finishes 43rd at NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championships
Mount Union’s Jocelyn Troyer finished 43rd after the final round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championships in Williamsburg, Virginia.
After making the cut as an individual, Troyer shot a 77 in the final round to bring her four-round total to 301. It broke the school record she set last season at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.
