The Boston Red Sox are in a spot where they could look to trade Rafael Devers.
The front office has suggested that they don’t want to do that under any circumstances, but if he continues to go around and act as he has, things could get very ugly.

Ultimately, this is an ugly situation for both sides, and it isn’t something the Red Sox or Devers should be proud of.
If they decide to move on from him, there will be many teams around Major League Baseball interested in adding him.
Funny enough, the one thing that needs him the most is the New York Yankees, the Red Sox’s biggest rival.
Despite how unlikely it is for the Yankees to add him, Athlon Sports predicted that he’d be traded to New York, effectively cutting ties with the star in Boston.

“One team particularly comes to mind, and that is the New York Yankees. They came into the season with third base being a concern, Devers would change that.

“Trades between rivals like these franchises are not common, in fact since 1969, they have made a total of 9 trades with each other. Four of them have been made since 2021, suggesting that they could be more willing to work together,” Ryan White wrote.
There are a few roadblocks to a potential trade for Devers to New York.
Not only do the Yankees and Red Sox hate each other, but New York doesn’t have a great farm system.
Unless the Red Sox would be willing to take back a below-average return, which would make absolutely no sense, it doesn’t seem likely that a trade similar to this would happen.
