BOSTON, Mass. (WABI) – The Red Sox are going to the Major League Baseball playoffs.
Boston’s 4-3 win over the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park sealed the deal on Friday night.
The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the third with RBI hits from Javier Baez and Jahmai Jones.
Masataka Yoshida got Boston on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the third.
Nathaniel Lowe’s seventh-inning sacrifice fly made it 3-2 before Jarren Duran tied it in the eighth with a single.
Ceddanne Rafaela sent the Red Sox to the playoffs with a walk-off triple that scored Romy Gonzalez for the 4-3 Boston victory.
The Red Sox hold the second American League wild card spot, which would set them up with a wild card series matchup with the New York Yankees.
