STANVILLE — Betsy Layne pulled away to defeat Phelps 16-1 in four innings on Thursday, May 8. 

The Ladycats set the tone early, distancing themselves from the visiting team. 

Betsy Layne reached double digits in the run column for the eighth time in the 2025 high school softball season. 

Hannah Jarrell pitched a complete game for Betsy Layne and earned the win in the circle. Jarrell held Phelps to one run on one hit while allowing three walks and recording four strikeouts. 

Betsy Layne scored 16 runs on 12 hits. Rylie McPeek paced Betsy Layne at the plate, finishing four-for-four with a double and four RBIs. Along with McPeek, Betsy Layne’s offensive attack featured Jayden Jarrell (two hits), Kayley Lee (two hits), Kaylee Parsons (two hits) Hannah Jarrell (two hits) and Miley Burchett (one hit).
