The Detroit Tigers are going back to the MLB playoffs in 2025 and they’re celebrating in the locker room, as is customary.
The Tigers knocked off the playoff-bound Boston Red Sox on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2-1 at Fenway Park.
Of course, the cameras were there to catch another playoff-clinching speech from Tigers manager A.J. Hinch.
“The team that stays together is, what, very dangerous,” he said. “The best time to be dangerous? Is in October.”
Immediately, the champagne popped as the locker room went berserk.
Sure, this is not as thrilling an experience as 2024, and the vibe is a little more subdued after choking away the 9½-game lead in the American League Central Division they had Sept. 10. (Last year they went 31-11 from Aug. 11-Sept. 27 to clinch a playoff berth for the first time in 10 years.)
Still, the Tigers are one of 12 teams with a chance to win the 2025 World Series, and they can still win the division and host the best-of-three wild-card series, which starts Tuesday with Game 1.
Here are more highlights from the Tigers’ playoff-clinching celebration inside the locker room and on the field.
“Check the records come Tuesday — everyone is 0-0,” Hinch said in an interview on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit.
Tarik Skubal doused in beer while saying he’s excited for the postseason.
