Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets (28-17) fell 6-2 to the Yankees (26-18) on Friday in the first game of the Subway Series. The offense was mostly flat in the game while Juan Soto, in his return to Yankee Stadium, drew three walks and went 0-for-2.
Tylor Megill struggled mightily, allowing four runs in just 2 2/3 innings. He allowed four hits and walked five as he saw his ERA on the season rise to 3.74.
In his career, Megill has a 2.45 ERA in March and April and a 6.41 ERA in May and June. At the end of April this year, Megill had just a 1.74 ERA in six starts, but he has now allowed eight runs in 9 2/3 innings in his first two starts in May. Megill will need to return to his April form if he wants to strick around this year, with Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas set to join the rotation this summer.
Game 2 of the three-game set against the Yankees will be played at 1:05 p.m. ET Saturday.
