In what was tabbed before the season as one of the most competitive divisions in MLB, the race for the American League East crown couldn’t be closer as the regular season nears its conclusion.

Entering play Saturday, the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays owned identical records and sit tied atop the AL East standings with three games to go. Both the Blue Jays and Yankees finish the season against teams outside the postseason picture, so the division is still very much up for grabs, with Toronto defeating the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday and the Yankees taking down the Baltimore Orioles.
