The Seattle Mariners recalled utilityman Miles Mastrobuoni from Triple-A Tacoma ahead of Sunday afternoon’s regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Mastrobuoni will start in center field and bat ninth for the M’s.

In a corresponding move, Seattle optioned right-handed pitcher Logan Evans to the Arizona Complex League. Evans returned on Saturday from a six-week stint on the injured list, allowing one run and two hits in three innings of relief in the Mariners’ 5-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Two key questions for Mariners in the postseason

The left-handed-hitting Mastrobuoni slashed .248/.323/.289 with one home run, three doubles and six stolen bases in 75 games with the Mariners this season before being option to Triple-A Tacoma on Aug. 18. He last appeared in a game for Seattle on Aug. 7. Mastrobuoni offers late-inning defensive versatility off the bench, having played third base, second base, right field and left field this season.

Evans, who made his MLB debut on April 27, has posted a 4.32 ERA with 59 strikeouts and 31 walks in 81 1/3 innings for the Mariners this season. With several starters in Seattle’s rotation dealing with injuries earlier in the year, Evans filled in to make 15 starts before landing on the IL on Aug. 15 with inflammation in his pitching elbow. Evans’ appearance on Saturday was his first coming out of the bullpen.

The Mariners (90-71) have clinched their first American League West title since 2001 and will be the AL’s No. 2 seed, which gives them a bye past the wild-card round and into the AL Division Series. Seattle will host Games 1 and 2 of the ALDS next Saturday and Sunday at T-Mobile Park.

The Mariners’ regular-season finale on Sunday is slated for a 12:10 p.m. first pitch. Radio coverage begins at 11 a.m. with the pregame show on the Seattle Sports 710 AM and the Seattle Sports app.
