The Detroit Tigers are heading to the Major League Baseball Playoffs for the second year in a row. You’d better buy your tickets to see them in their Wild Card Series before they disappear.

It was not as easy as many wanted around Tiger Town, but the Tigers managed to clinch a spot in the playoffs for the second consecutive season with their hard-fought 2-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.

It marks the first time that Detroit has punched its ticket deep into October two years in a row since 2014, when the team advanced to the postseason for the fourth year in a row.

Fans probably wished the Tigers could have clinched a spot in the playoffs a little sooner. At one point, Detroit had a 14-game lead at the top of the American League Central. However, a lackluster second half led to the Tigers losing the best record in baseball, and eventually their division lead. However, the team managed to do enough to qualify for fall baseball, which, given the shape the Tigers were in a couple of years ago, should be considered a win.

However, since they somehow finished second in the Central, Detroit has to travel to take on the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. The Guardians went 8-5 against the Tigers in the regular season, though Detroit went 4-2 against its rivals in Cleveland.
