The 2025 Major League Baseball postseason bracket is officially set after a wild September finish that saw races in both leagues go down to the wire.
American League
The Toronto Blue Jays held off their division rivals to capture the AL East crown, earning the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye. The Seattle Mariners, riding a strong late-season surge, secured the No. 2 seed and the league’s other bye into the Division Series.
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox both claimed wild card spots and will square off in a classic October rivalry showdown. Meanwhile, the Detroit Tigers narrowly defended their AL Central lead, setting up a Wild Card clash with the Cleveland Guardians, who were edged out of the division on the final day but locked down the last playoff berth.
National League
On the NL side, the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies rolled comfortably to division titles, securing the league’s two byes as the top seeds. The Los Angeles Dodgers outlasted the San Diego Padres in the NL West and enter as the No. 3 seed, where they’ll host the Cincinnati Reds, winners of the final wild card slot.
The postseason also features a marquee matchup between the Chicago Cubs and the San Diego Padres, with Wrigley Field set to host the first two games of the series.
