Probable starting pitchers for Game 1 of the upcoming National League wild-card series between the Cincinnati Reds and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium are Hunter Greene for the Reds and Blake Snell for the Dodgers, per The Enquirer’s Pat Brennan.
Greene last started Sept. 24 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In 19 starts this season, Greene was 7-4 with a 2.76 ERA and 0.938 WHIP, with 132 strikeouts in 107 2/3 innings.
In his only start of the season against the Dodgers, Greene allowed three earned runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings Aug. 25. He gave up two home runs to Andy Pages.
In five career starts against the Dodgers, Greene is 1-3 with a 4.55 ERA and 1.301 WHIP, with 25 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings.
In three career starts at Dodger Stadium, Greene is 0-2 with a 3.78 ERA and 1.140 WHIP, with 17 Ks in 16 2/3 innings.
In 11 starts this season, Snell is 5-4 with a 2.35 ERA and 1.255 WHIP, with 72 strikeouts in 61 1/3 innings.
Snell hasn’t faced the Reds as a Dodger. The last time Snell faced the Reds he pitched for the San Francisco Giants, and tossed a no-hitter at Great American Ball Park on Aug. 2, 2024.
In 2023, Snell made his only other start against the Reds, allowing three earned runs on eight hits with no walks and seven strikeouts over six innings. Snell pitched for the San Diego Padres that season, and won the National League Cy Young award.
