Pacific League Seibu 2-0 Lotte (29th, Belluna D)
Seibu Lions pitcher Yuutaro Watanabe earned his seventh win, allowing two hit no runs in six innings.
This was the final home game, and he took to mound with the mindset that “I really can’t lose.” He struck out all three batters in the first inning. He threw 76 pitches through the sixth inning, allowing only two hit, showing tenacious pitching and not allowing the other team to reach third base.
This game is his last appearance of the season. After a year in which he defended the starting rotation for the first time in his seventh year as a professional, he said, “I found a lot of challenges in that process, and the fact that I was able to go around for a year gives me confidence, so I want to do my best to do even better pitch next season.”
