Ian Happ of the Chicago Cubs kept his end-of-season ritual alive on Sunday at Wrigley Field, and fans sitting in the left-field bleachers surely appreciated it.

Brag on Ian Happ

Full disclosure, baseball isn’t really my thing. If I had to say I was a fan of one professional baseball team, I would follow family tradition and say the Chicago Cubs.

I may not know much about how the Chicago Cubs are doing this season, but I do know one thing: Outfielder Ian Happ seems like an awesome person, and what he did again on Sunday … reinforces it.

Ian Happ’s Sweet Bleacher Tradition

Did you know that Ian Happ has quietly turned buying a round of beers for the bleacher section at season’s end into a yearly tradition? I didn’t either, until today.

For a few years now Ian Happ has tossed a baseball that includes a handwritten message and cash, thrown to fans in left-field bleachers so they can buy drinks on him.

Here’s an example from 2024:

And on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Wrigley Field, the tradition continued (and was even praised by diehard Milwaukee Brewers fans):

For someone like me, who is still learning all the nuances of Cubs culture, this is the kind of thing that makes me want to be a fan.

This isn’t just an act of generosity for Ian Happ, I believe it’s his way of saying: “I see you, and I thank you for sticking with us.”

So here’s to Ian Happ, and for finding a unique way of showing appreciation to Cubs fans. Perhaps we should all join the “bleacher believers” the next time we head to Wrigley for a game?
