Cincinnati Reds celebrate playoff matchup with Los Angeles Dodgers
The Cincinnati Reds on Sunday clinched the final berth in the 2025 MLB playoff field
Against all odds, the Cincinnati Reds have clinched an MLB playoff spot after a New York Mets loss on Sept. 28, certifying the Reds the third National League wild card berth.
Though the Reds lost their final regular-season game to the Milwaukee Brewers, the Reds held the head-to-head tiebreaker over New York (4-2 record against the Mets) and got the wild card spot despite sharing identical records at 83-79.
The Reds will play October baseball for the first time since they did so in 2020 during a shortened MLB season. It’s the first time the Reds made the playoffs in a 162-game season since 2013.
The Reds will take on the NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers in a best-of-three wild card series starting in Dodger Stadium on Sept. 30.
When is the next Cincinnati Reds’ game?
The Reds’ first playoff game is away against the Dodgers at 9:08 p.m. Sept. 30.
