As the 2025 MLB postseason begins, the Rangers are not a part of the festivities for the second straight year. Their last postseason game was Game 5 of the World Series when Texas clinched its first World Series.
But some former Rangers, including some from the 2023 World Series team, are suiting up for other clubs this October. If you want to pull for any of them this postseason, you’ve got many options.
Here is every former Texas player in the postseason.

A couple of guys who were involved in notable Rangers trade deadline deals are on the Blue Jays this year.
Tate was the fourth overall pick for the Rangers in the 2015 MLB draft, but he never suited up for Texas. He was dealt to the Yankees for Carlos Beltran in 2016 as the Rangers pushed for the playoffs that year.
Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young winner, was acquired from the Mets as a key piece to the Rangers’ World Series run at the 2023 trade deadline.
Kiner-Falefa was drafted by the Rangers in 2013 and spent the first four years of his big-league career in Texas from 2018-21, winning the AL Gold Glove at third base in 2020. He was dealt to the Twins in a deal for Mitch Garver (more on him in a minute) in 2022.
Seattle MarinersLuke Jackson, Mitch Garver
Jackson has had two stints with the Rangers, spending the 2015-16 seasons in Texas to start his career and spent part of the 2025 season with the Rangers before Texas designated him for assignment.
Rangers fans have much rosier memories of Garver, who spent 2022-23 in Texas was a key piece in the lineup during the 2023 World Series run. During the Rangers’ playoff run, he hit three home runs and notched 14 RBIs, including the go-ahead RBI single in the World Series-clinching game against Arizona.

Matt Festa, Austin Hedges
Festa’s career with the Rangers was brief, appearing in 18 games out of the bullpen for Texas in 2024, Hedges lives on in Rangers lore for Texas fans.
Hedges appeared in just 16 games for the Rangers in the 2023 World Series run, but was an all-time vibes guy in the clubhouse after he was acquired from the Pirates at the trade deadline.
“Every locker room needs an Austin Hedges,” then-Rangers outfielder Travis Jankowski said that October.

Aroldis Chapman, Nathaniel Lowe
Both of the former Rangers on Boston’s roster were integral to Texas’ first World Series title.
Chapman was acquired from the Royals during the 2023 season as help for a bullpen that badly needed some reinforcements. In 30 appearances, he had a 3.72 ERA with four saves, striking out 15.5 batters per nine innings. In his nine appearances in the postseason, he didn’t allow an earned run in eight innings as Texas’ set-up man in the late innings.
Lowe spent the 2021-24 seasons with the Rangers, winning a Silver Slugger at first base in 2022 and then won a Gold Glove at first base in 2023. During the 2023 playoffs, Lowe hit three home runs and drove in six runs. The Rangers dealt him to the Nationals in a trade for Robert Garcia ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Detroit TigersAndy Ibáñez
Ibáñez began his career in Texas, spending the 2021-22 seasons with the Rangers. In his rookie season, he accumulated 1.7 bWAR in 76 games and hit seven home runs. Texas lost him in a waiver claim after the 2022 campaign.
Milwaukee BrewersGrant Anderson
Anderson also began his career with the Rangers, pitching for Texas from 2023-24. While he didn’t make any appearances for Texas in its 2023 World Series run, he appeared in 26 games out of the bullpen in the regular season with a 5.05 ERA.
Texas dealt Anderson to Milwaukee ahead of the 2025 season.
Philadelphia PhilliesDavid Robertson
Robertson has been pitching in the major leagues since 2008, playing for eight different teams. He spent the 2024 season in Texas as one of the Rangers’ top bullpen arms with a 3.00 ERA in 68 appearances.
Los Angeles DodgersNoneChicago CubsCarson Kelly
Kelly’s time with the Rangers was brief, as Texas acquired him from Detroit at the 2024 trade deadline. In 31 games with the Rangers he hit two home runs and tallied eight RBIs.
Given the Rangers’ offensive woes in 2025, they probably wish they re-signed Kelly given his .761 OPS and 17 home runs in Chicago this year.
San Diego Padres
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Yu Darvish throws against the Oakland Athletics on July 1, 2012 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
Yu Darvish
Darvish, now 38 years old, began his career with the Rangers and pitched in Texas from 2012-2017. He made four All-Star teams as a Ranger.
After missing the first part of the year, he returned to the Padres rotation in July and has a 5.38 ERA in 15 starts.
Cincinnati RedsNick Martinez, Jose Trevino
Trevino was a fan favorite during his four seasons with the Rangers from 2018-21 before being traded to the Yankees. Now with the Reds, Trevino appeared in 93 games this season, posting a .623 OPS with four home runs.
Martinez began his career with the Rangers and was Texas’ 18th round selection in the 2011 MLB draft. He pitched for the Rangers from 2014-17 before spending four seasons in Japan. Since returning for Japan, he’s turned into a very productive bullpen arm and spot starter across four seasons with the Padres and Reds.
