Charlie Cummings takes you through his favorite player props for Game 2 of the Wild Card Series between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians.

After a drama-filled Game 1 in Cleveland, the Detroit Tigers pulled out a narrow 2-1 victory over the Guardians, taking control of this Wild Card Series. Now we have a win-or-go-home game for Cleveland on Wednesday, and this game is loaded with fascinating player props to explore.

The Guardians open as -126 moneyline favorites on the DraftKings Sportsbook. The Tigers are priced as +103 underdogs, while the total is set at 6.5 runs. Let’s get into a preview, prediction, and best bet for Game 2 between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians.

Best Tigers at Guardians player props

José Ramírez 2+ Total Bases (+116)

If the Guardians are going to create anything offensively on Wednesday, it’s likely to involve José Ramírez. He nearly scored the tying run in the ninth inning after getting to third base with no outs, ending up 1-for-3 with a walk in their loss. But he’ll be licking his chops when he sees Casey Mize come to the mound.

In his career against Mize, the Guardians slugger is 5-for-10 with two home runs. He’s good for an OPS of 1.645 against Mize, with a lot of that action coming this year. He’s as good a bet as any to be productive out of Cleveland’s lineup.

Kerry Carpenter 2+ Batter Strikeouts (+268)

While José has significant numbers against his opposite number, Kerry Carpenter’s are mixed. He does have a modest .706 OPS against Tanner Bibee across 17 at-bats, but he’s struck out eight times. Carpenter is no stranger to swinging and missing, and will take some major league hacks against Bibee, for better or for worse. Even if he’s pinch-hit for later in the game, I think multiple strikeouts can be in the cards.

Tanner Bibee Over 14.5 Pitching Outs (-103)

Death, taxes, Tanner Bibee pitching well against the Tigers. Bibee spun six one-run innings in his last two outings of the regular season, both against Detroit. Tigers hitters as a group have a .679 OPS against Bibee. Key hitters like Kerry Carpenter and Riley Greene have struggled in a big way against him. He’s got their number. But that’s not the only factor at work.

Cleveland was forced to use three of their bullpen arms on Tuesday and will need some extra length from Bibee in order to preserve their arms for later in the game. I’d be surprised if he didn’t find a way to push through five innings, even if it’s not clean.
