SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS have fired manager Bob Melvin shortly after the end of the season.

Melvin, 63, took over at the Giants last year but the franchise opted to dismiss him with a year left on his contract.

San Francisco pulled the plug after the MLB official fell short of the playoffs in each of his two seasons.

Melvin looked set to return for a third year after the Giants’ president of baseball operations Buster Posey picked up his 2026 option in July.

But San Francisco opted to shift course after another disappointing finish this year.

San Fran went 81-81 in 2025 and 161-163 overall under Melvin.

A few fans took to social media immediately after the news was announced.

And some appeared to agree with the Giants’ decision to let Melvin go.

One fan tweeted: “Smart decision San Francisco Giants! Bob Melvin could not get the most out of the talent on this team.”

Another commented: “Buster was vouched for him earlier during that terrible losing streak, so glad he came to his senses.”

A third wrote: “Thank goodness.”

This fan said: “Good.”
