Amateur Baseball: Buckman escapes with win against Avon – Brainerd Dispatch

AVON — Lane Girtz blasted a two-run home run for the Buckman Billygoats in a 4-3 win over the Avon Lakers in a Victory B game Saturday, May 3.

Matt Tautges and Reese Young tallied an RBI apiece while Travis Kahl and Jack Suska scored a run.

Tautges also earned the save by pitching out of a jam in the eighth inning and stranding the potential tying run on base in the ninth inning. Rylan Robinson earned the win and struck out five with five walks in five innings.

ST. STEPHEN — Beau Thoma and Jake Kapphahn recorded three hits apiece for the Sobieski Skis in an 8-2 win over the St. Stephen Steves in a Victory B game Sunday, May 4.

Thoma struck out 12 in seven innings to earn the win.
