Texas A&M has added another 2027 commit who promises to bring significant power to the program. INF/P Colton Floyd, hailing from Albuquerque, NM, announced via social media that he will begin his collegiate career in Bryan-College Station. This is a major acquisition—if he ultimately makes it to Aggieland. There’s a strong possibility he’ll be selected in the 2026 MLB Draft.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 220 pounds, Floyd is a high school junior who already possesses SEC-level power and is ranked among the top 50 players nationally. He’s an imposing presence, highly rated at third base, and capable of contributing innings on the mound. However, his true dominance is in the batter’s box, where he may remind Aggie fans of a right-handed Jace LaViolette.
As a sophomore, Floyd exploded onto the scene as an offensive force, posting a .526 batting average, a 1.105 slugging percentage, eight home runs, and 42 RBIs. These numbers earned him a 2025 All-Metro selection and multiple summer All-Star invitations from top-tier high school baseball evaluators. He continues to grow stronger and is well on pace to reach double-digit home runs in his junior season.
While Floyd would be a tremendous addition to the Aggie roster, there’s a very real chance A&M fans may never see him don the Maroon & White. Coach Michael Earley will face a formidable challenge if Floyd ascends to the level many expect by his senior year.
