AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) – The CEO of Ignite College and Career Academy in Americus has been placed on administrative leave.
Joshua Drew was placed on administrative leave following a fight at Crisp County Youth Ball Complex in September.

The Sumter County School System released the following statement:
“Effective September 9, 2025, Josh Drew, CTAE Director for Sumter County Schools and CEO of Ignite College and Career Academy, was placed on administrative leave in connection with a non-school-related matter.
At this time, Mr. Drew remains on administrative leave. The district is committed to ensuring that day-to-day operations and student learning continue without interruption. School activities will proceed as scheduled.
Because this is a personnel matter, no additional information will be provided at this time.”
WALB previously reported that Drew was charged with simple assault following the incident.
