The Red Sox and Yankees face a winner-take-all Game 3 on Thursday night after New York topped Boston, 4-3, in another close game in The Bronx.

Starting pitcher Brayan Bello was not sharp, allowing a two-run home run to Yankees slugger Ben Rice in the first inning. He was later pulled from the game during the third inning, with the score tied 2-2.

The move forced Boston to lean heavily on its bullpen. The Yankees knocked in a run off the bullpen in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead, but Boston answered in the sixth with a home run from Trevor Story.

The score remained tied into the eighth inning, when the Yankees got to reliever Garrett Whitlock, scoring the go-ahead run on an RBI single from catcher Austin Wells.

Yankees closer David Bednar closed out the game in the top half of the ninth inning to tie the series.

Boston will turn to rookie Connelly Early in Game 3 Thursday night.
