LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — Lafayette Christian Academy is upgrading its baseball and softball fields to improve the experience for players and fans.
The school’s softball team is getting a new turf field, and both the boys’ and girls’ teams will benefit from new stadium lighting. The project aims to enhance sustainability and convenience for the teams.
“And for the last 20 years, we’ve been traveling for practice. Carencro – going to Pelican Park, Scott – going to Scott Park – and so now, our girls can literally come right out of class, walk straight onto the practice field, and have their games here on campus,” LCA president Jay Miller said.
Gracie Malagarie, who plays outfield for the LCA softball team, noted the importance of having the community involved.
“Just having our community at LCA just coming together and being able to, being able to watch our games, a lot of times people don’t wanna travel to go to games, but therefore already at school we have an audience to come watch us, and that’s very important for the softball team,” LCA softball outfielder Gracie Malagarie added.
The new facilities are expected to be ready for the first pitch next spring.
