CLEVELAND — The Guardians and Tigers have a new first-pitch time for Game 3.
Because the series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds wrapped up early, the winner-take-all Game 3 between the Guardians and Tigers will now be at 3:08 p.m. Oct. 2. The game will also be televised on ABC instead of ESPN.
Major League Baseball originally set the game for 1:08 p.m. and had the Guardians and Tigers wait until the conclusion of the Dodgers-Reds game, which wrapped up after midnight, to find out the time of their game the next day.
Guardians starter Slade Cecconi is set to take the mound opposite Jack Flaherty for the Tigers. The winner of Game 3 will advance to the ALDS to face the Seattle Mariners.
The Guardians forced Game 3 by avoiding elimination with a 6-1 win in Game 2 powered by “Playoff Rocchio,” a stellar bullpen and some major contributions from rookie outfielders.
