LOS ANGELES, Calif. (WKYT) – The Los Angeles Dodgers advance to the National League Divisional Series after knocking the Cincinnati Reds out of the postseason on Wednesday, 8-4.
Reds rookie Sal Stewart staked his team to a 2-0 lead with a two-run single in the top of the first inning. Stewart, 21, is the youngest position player to make a postseason appearance in Reds’ history.
But the sixth inning proved to be Cincinnati’s nightmare.
Trailing 3-2, the Reds loaded the bases with no outs, but Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto worked out of the jam without allowing a run.
In the bottom half of the inning, LA plated four runs to take a commanding 7-2 lead.
Former Lexington Legend Kike’ Hernandez had two hits and drove in a run for the winners.
