Missouri baseball’s regular season ended in a fashion the Tigers would like to forget as they were run-ruled 12-1 in seven innings by Mississippi State on Saturday at Taylor Stadium.

It was the ninth time this season that Mizzou (16-38, 3-27 Southeastern Conference) failed to secure a single win in an SEC series. MU did not win an SEC game at home this season.

Mississippi State outscored Mizzou 50-11 in this series.

The Bulldogs (34-20, 15-15) wasted no time taking control in the finale. First baseman Hunter Hines started the rout with a two-run home run to right-center, Mississippi State tacked on four more runs in the first inning.

Mizzou’s lone run of the afternoon came in the second inning off a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Brock Daniels, scoring first baseman Mateo Serna to cut the deficit to 8-1.

The Tigers used six pitchers in the series finale, with starter Josh McDevitt taking the loss. The sophomore right-hander recorded just two outs and surrendered six runs and six hits.

Mizzou is the No. 16 seed in the SEC Tournament and will face ninth-seeded Alabama in the first round at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hoover, Alabama.
