Cincinnati Reds vs. Los Angeles Dodgers NL Wild Card Series Game 2

Enquirer reporters Gordon Wittenmyer and Pat Brennan preview Game 2 of the Reds vs. Dodgers NL wild card series in Los Angeles.

Much of the anger from Cincinnati Reds‘ fans on social media after the team was eliminated from the MLB postseason by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a two-game, National League wild-card series sweep revolved around how few pitches were thrown by Nick Lodolo and All-Star Andrew Abbott.

Lodolo threw 14 pitches in the 8-4 Game 2 loss before Nick Martinez relieved him. Abbott was the Reds’ scheduled start for Game 3, if Cincinnati had won one of the first two games.

The Reds squandered a golden opportunity in the top of the 6th inning of Game 2, failing to score a run despite having the bases loaded with nobody out against Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Cincinnati’s postseason record since a three-game sweep of the Dodgers in 1995 is 2-15.

The Dodgers advanced to a National League division-series matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Social media reactions to the Reds’ playoff loss:

Dodgers sweep the Reds out of the Wild
Card round. 8-4 the score tonight. 2025 season ends there.

Reds season comes to an end without Lodolo or Abbott making a postseason start.

What was supposed to make them dangerous (Greene, Lodolo, Abbott), never transpired.

FINAL: Dodgers 8, Reds 4

Los Angeles sweeps Cincinnati and advances to the NLDS. Mookie Betts had four hits, Yoshinobu Yamamoto went seven strong and Roki Sasaki looked like a monster in the ninth.

Up next is what might be the best series this postseason: Dodgers vs. Phillies.

U could just watch the at bats vs Lodolo.. they didn’t want to face him … guaranteed the guys were saying thank god he’s out

Nick Lodolo threw 14 pitches in a must win game.

All-star Andrew Abbott is going to throw 0 pitches this postseason.

Of all the questionable decisions made by Tito this year. This one wins by a country mile.

The Dodgers won, 8-4. They are advancing to the NLDS. Roki Sasaki closed it out and looked dominant doing it. What a development that would be if he can help be part of the answer to the Dodgers bullpen.

Nick Lodolo not getting the start is one thing, but having him only throw 14 pitches in an elimination game is crazy.
