Amaya elected free agency Friday, Jack Ankony of SI.com reports.
Amaya appeared in 37 games for the White Sox this season, but he posted only a .260 OPS while in the majors. He slashed .250/.352/.420 across 219 plate appearances at Triple-A Charlotte, however, which should be enough for other clubs to be interested in bringing him in on a minor-league contract.
