Tampa Bay Rays Assistant GM Carlos Rodriguez To Leave After 15 Seasons | Country 99.1 WQIK

Tampa, FL – Tampa Bay Rays executive Carlos Rodriguez announced Thursday that he will be leaving the organization after 15 seasons, ending a career that began in 2010 as a professional and area scout.

Rodriguez played an integral role in the Rays’ growth, helping the team secure three American League East division titles and five postseason appearances.

Over the years, he advanced through multiple roles, gaining experience in player evaluation, department leadership, and organizational strategy.

In 2022, Rodriguez was promoted to vice president and assistant general manager, where he oversaw key areas of operations and contributed to the team’s long-term planning.

Throughout his tenure, he worked closely with colleagues, including Rays President of Baseball Operations Erik Neander, forming strong professional relationships that Rodriguez highlighted in his farewell statement.

“After 15 incredible years with the Tampa Bay Rays organization, I’ve decided the time is right to step away and transition to explore other opportunities,” Rodriguez said.

“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and grateful for all the friendships I’ve made here. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to lead several departments and work alongside so many talented and dedicated people. Those experiences have shaped me both professionally and personally, and I’ll always carry them with me. While it’s difficult to step away, I’m excited to see what the future holds and confident the organization is in great hands moving forward.”

Rodriguez’s departure marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in the Rays’ front office, and the organization will begin planning for leadership changes to maintain its competitive success.

On Thursday (October 2), Swiss Guards commander Col. \u003cstrong>Christoph Graf\u003c/strong> showcased the new design during a presentation ceremony at the army’s barracks. This event precedes the annual swearing-in ceremony of 27 new recruits, scheduled for Saturday.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The new uniform, made of black wool with two rows of buttons, a yellow and white belt, and a Mao-style collar, is\u003ca href=\”https://www.independent.co.uk/bulletin/news/vatican-swiss-guard-pope-uniform-b2838248.html\” target=\”_blank\”> a faithful recreation of a centuries-old design that was last used in 1976\u003c/a>. Col. Graf explained that the uniform will be worn for nonceremonial formal occasions, such as diplomatic receptions or official dinners outside the Vatican walls. The traditional blue, yellow, and red Renaissance-style uniform will continue to be used for ceremonial events.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The updated uniform was funded by an unnamed benefactor, with each uniform costing approximately $2,300. It will be \u003ca href=\”https://www.newsday.com/news/nation/vatican-swiss-guards-pope-uniform-g85250\” target=\”_blank\”>worn exclusively by the senior ranks of the Swiss Guards\u003c/a>. The corps, considered the world’s oldest standing army, was founded in 1506 by Pope Julius II. Traditionally, the swearing-in ceremony takes place on or near May 6, commemorating the day in 1527 when 147 guardsmen died protecting Pope Clement VII during the Sack of Rome. However, this year’s ceremony was postponed due to the death of Pope Francis and the election of Pope Leo XIV.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>In addition to the uniform update, plans are underway to renovate the aging Swiss Guard barracks. The renovation aims to improve living conditions and potentially accommodate female recruits in the future. Jean-Pierre Roth, president of the foundation raising funds for the renovation, stated that the new architectural plans could allow for a female section if approved by the pope.
