Pat Murphy’s affinity for Bob Uecker is well-known.

But the Milwaukee Brewers manager took his love for the legendary broadcaster a step further recently by getting a tattoo of the same memorial patch that has adorned the sleeves of the team’s jerseys this season after the passing of Uecker in January.

“Yeah, I got a tattoo on my sleeve like the players wear on their uniform,” Murphy confirmed at the end of his news conference Friday, Oct. 3 at American Family Field, after some initial give and take with a reporter. “I told you guys in spring training I was getting a Uecker tattoo.

“Remember that?”

Already adorned with several tattoos, Murphy said afterward that he had his latest creation done during a session at his home by Scottsdale, Arizona-based artist Justin Gorelik.

The 2025 season has been – rightfully so – all about honoring Uecker’s memory with specially manicured grass in his trademark plaid, his signature painted onto the field, uniform patches, a celebration of life complete with players all donning “Ueck” jerseys, a letter penned by Murphy in Uecker’s voice read by the skipper following the Brewers’ Central Division clinch and now the tattoo.

In a melancholy turn of events, Oct. 3 also happens to be the date of Uecker’s final radio call, the night the Brewers suffered a gut-wrenching 4-2 loss to the New York Mets in Game 3 in the teams’ National League Wild Card Series.
