Columbia, S.C. (WACH) — Saturday afternoon Benedict defeated cross-street rival Allen 38-28 to improve to 5-0 this season.

The Tigers struck first, driving the ball to Allen’s one-yard line before Darius Ocean connected with Troy Hillman to take a 7-0 lead.

The Yellow Jackets responded quickly with quarterback Jamir Dismukes punching in a touchdown from one yard out, tying the game 60 seconds after Benedict scored.

The Tigers led the way in the first half, but Allen tied it at 21 heading into halftime.

In the third quarter Fabian Duncan scored a rushing touchdown for the Yellow Jackets to take their first lead of the game.

In the fourth quarter A’Chean Durant scored a rushing touchdown for the Tigers to take a 31-28 lead.

Tymetrius Patterson rushed in a touchdown with 54 seconds left in the game as Benedict took a 38-28 lead.

The Tigers will host Fort Valley State next Saturday at 2 p.m. while the Yellow Jackets will host Savannah State for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
