The new CEO of the National Pork Board says expanding market access for U.S. pork is key to driving long-term growth in the industry.

David Newman tells Brownfield, “While we’re still pushing on our export demand, which has been a very strong for this business over the last 30 years, we now have a new emphasis on domestic demand. Without consumers eating pork, we don’t have a poll strategy for the only thing we make.”

He tells Brownfield the organization is also building out a global long-term strategy to help support pork producers.

“It’s really about working with our states and our allied industry to know what their problems are, being able to help them address them, and also try to see opportunities and challenges as they come down the pipeline in the coming year,” he says.

Newman says the National Pork Board and its partners remain committed to creating new opportunities for U.S. pork and help the industry be better positioned for growth in the industry.
