After compiling a hearty .336/.413/.579 in 37 games in Reno, Lawlar has renewed career focus after rejoining the Diamondbacks.

The Arizona Diamondbacks got their first look at the 2025 Los Angeles Dodgers May 8-11, a four-game series split, which was one six-run comeback away from a series win.

After wrapping up a brief, three-game homestand with the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, May 18, they head for Southern California to take on the Dodgers again, this time for three games May 19-21 at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers have much more history with the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres in the National League West, but a strong rivalry has been built between L.A. and the Diamondbacks. With the Dodgers at the top of the NL West for most of this season, the Diamondbacks have an opportunity to make the division title race even tighter.

The Diamondbacks are almost back at full strength, with pitchers Justin Martinez and A.J. Puk getting closer to returning from the injured list. And they recently added one of their top prospects, infielder Jordan Lawlar, who was called up from the minor leagues.

The Dodgers have been beset by injuries to their starting rotation, with Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki all on the injured list. But future Hall of Fame left-hander Clayton Kershaw is back from recovery and rehab from two surgeries.

With regard to position players, two key parts of the batting order could be back in time to play the Diamondbacks, Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman. Both have been on the 10-day injured list and will soon be ready to rejoin stars Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

After the series in Los Angeles, the Diamondbacks head to St. Louis for a three-game series against the Cardinals, May 23-25.

St. Louis ended the week as one of Major League Baseball’s hottest teams, having surged toward the top spot in the NL Central. Infielder Brendan Donovan has been one of the Cardinals’ bright spots on offense, and the St. Louis’ main five-man starting rotation has made every start but two this season.
