Former LSU baseball pitcher Kevin Gausman made a postseason start in the MLB on Saturday.

Gausman was the winning pitcher in the Toronto Blue Jays‘ 10-1 victory over the New York Yankees to open the American League Division Series. He faced 22 batters and struck out three in what was a close game for the first six innings.

Through 5.2 innings of work, Gausman surrendered four hits and two walks. He hurled five scoreless frames but couldn’t get out of the sixth inning unscathed. The Blue Jays’ bullpen didn’t give up a run the rest of the game to preserve the victory.

Gausman got Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton to strike out once apiece then fanned Ben Rice twice. It was the ninth postseason game of his 13-year professional career and his fourth start.

Through the 2025 regular season, Gausman finished with a 3.59 ERA and 189 strikeouts through 193 innings pitched. He was selected out of LSU by the Baltimore Orioles with the No. 4 overall pick in 2012.
