The Division Series round of the postseason began yesterday with four games. Today, the National League gets the day off but both American League teams are back in action. Both games will be broadcast on FS1.

Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees, 4:08 PM EDT

Toronto leads series, 1-0

The Yankees were given a rude welcome to Canada in game one as they lost to the Blue Jays, 10-1. Former Oriole Kevin Gausman pitched 5.2 innings of one-run ball, and the Jays’ bullpen put up 3.1 scoreless to keep the Yankees’ offense in check. Seranthony Domínguez faced two batters and retired both.

Luis Gil started for the Yankees and was not as good as Gausman. He lasted just 2.2 innings and allowed solo homers to Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. and Alejandro Kirk. The real trouble came from the bullpen as the Jays had back-to-back four-run innings in the seventh and eighth. Anthony Santander was in the middle of the seventh-inning rally with a single, but was lifted for a pinch hitter.

Tonight the Jays have a tougher task ahead of them as they face Max Fried of the Yankees. They counter with Trey Yesavage, who appeared in just three games in 2025.

Seattle Mariners vs Detroit Tigers, 8:03 PM EDT

Detroit leads series, 1-0

If you’re on the East Coast, you probably did not stay up late enough to see the end Detroit’s 11-inning victory over the Mariners.

Seattle took an early lead on a solo home run by Julio Rodríguez, but lost it one inning later thanks to a monster home run by Kerry Carpenter, who has owned Mariners’ starter George Kirby in his career. In a small sample size, Carpenter is 4-for-8 with four home runs in regular-season play vs Kirby.

The Mariners tied the game on another Rodríguez RBI and the 2-2 score held until the 11th inning when the Tigers pushed across a run on a walk, wild pitch, and single to win 3-2. It would have behooved the Mariners to win yesterday as today they will face Tarik Skubal for the Tigers. Luis Castillo is scheduled to start for the Mariners, so it should be a great matchup.
