Baseball is in the air, and Texas A&M brought the heat in their first outing since last season’s SEC tournament. On Friday night, the Aggies hosted the Sam Houston Bearkats in a 12-inning exhibition and cruised to a 22–7 victory in fall ball action.
After a sluggish start at the plate, the offense erupted, with contributions pouring in from freshmen to seniors. The pitching staff held steady throughout the night, with multiple arms getting their turn on the mound. Following last season’s struggles at the plate, it was refreshing to see the team catch fire for several innings.
Caden Sorrell sparked the rally with a deep shot to center field that drove in a run, and the momentum never slowed. The standout storyline of the night was the performance of the freshman class. According to Ryan Brauninger, the four true freshmen combined for the following stat line:
Hits: 8Home runs: 2RBI: 12Runs scored: 10Walks: 3Stolen Bases: 3
No one made a bigger impact than freshman Nico Partida. Not only did he showcase versatility by playing multiple infield positions, but he also launched a three-run homer and tallied four RBIs. Later, he took the mound, struck out several batters, and touched 98 mph on his fastball.
It’s incredibly early, but the future looks promising for Texas A&M basebal.l
Texas A&M will be back in action on October 10 when they host TCU in their final fall ball game this year.
