The Detroit Tigers took Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Seattle Mariners in extra innings and have the opportunity on Sunday, Oct. 5 to grab a 2-0 advantage before the series shifts to Michigan.
Zach McKinstry’s RBI single in the 11th inning of Game 1 gave the Tigers a 3-2 win at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
Presumed repeat Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal will start for the Tigers in Game 2. The lefty was spectacular in the wild card series start against the Cleveland Guardians, giving up one run with 14 strikeouts.
“One of our strengths is bouncing back, and we have to do that,” Mariners manager Dan Wilson said after the Game 1 loss.
